Davidson Defense Mfg. by Faxon Firearms AR-15 16" .223 Wylde Mid Gas, 1:8T,
SOCOM Profile, 1/2x28, .750 Gas, 4150 Steel Nitride Barrel
General Barrel Info: The barrel on an AR-15 originally operates under a 'gas impingement' system' by tapping gas off of the barrel and cycling it back through the gas system to assist the bolt carrier in unlocking and extracting the spent cartridge. AR-15 Barrels come in four different specifications for gas systems, Pistol, Carbine, Mid-Length, and Rifle. AR-15 Barrels vary between profiles as well as from Government, to Heavy, and Slim. Thanks to the modularity of AR-15, you can choose different calibers starting with the barrel, each with its specific twist rates. Choosing your barrel for your next AR-15 build has never been easier.
Brand Info: In collaboration, Davidson Defense got with Faxon Firearms to Manufacture a high-quality barrel at an affordable price. Quality is imbued into this barrel from the start. We wanted to start with the best materials, either certified 4150 Mil-Spec steel or 416-R Stainless. From there, each barrel goes through a battery of tests at each operation until finished in Nitride and final inspected. All barrels are individually checked for headspace by precision custom hardened gauges. Faxon Firearms Mfg. barrels are the pinnacle of value. Manufactured 100% in-house from cradle-to-grave, their barrels are fully stress relieved, air-gauge tested, and 11-degree target crowned to ensure superior accuracy.
About This Barrel: Davidson Defense - Faxon Firearms 16-inch .223 Wylde AR-15 Barrel has a 1:8 twist rate and is chambered in .223 Wyle. It has a clean SOCOM profile and is made from 4150 steel with a nitride finish. It operates on a Mid Gas system and the gas block diameter is .750 inches. This barrel is high-strength, durable, corrosion-resistant, and exactly what you need to elevate your next AR-15 build.
About the Profile: SOCOM - SOCOM Profile barrels are made to withstand more use than their M4 counterparts, being slightly heavier near the end, allowing for increased rigidity and reliability under rapid or sustained fire situations.
Barrel Classification: Rifle
Length: This Barrel is designated as a rifle barrel with an overall 16" length.
Caliber: .223Wylde - This barrel is chambered to fire both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO, the most commonly used round designed for the AR-15 platform. .223 Wylde is a commercial specification of 5.56 NATO and will still allow you to chamber and fire 5.56 NATO cartridges.
Material: 4150 CrMoV - Chrome-Moly Vanadium, or simply "CMV", is the official mil-spec gun steel developed by Colt Firearms for the military-issued M16 and M4. It contains the same elements as 4150 steel. It also contains Vanadium. Vanadium significantly increases the strength, hardness, and high-temperature stability of the steel.
Finish: Nitride - Nitriding is a process during manufacturing that diffuses nitrogen into the steel to make a case-hardened surface for improved resistance and strength. A Nitrided barrel typically has a gloss black texture.
Thread Pitch: 1/2x28 - This threading is commonly found on barrels chambered in 5.56, .223, and .224. This will allow the installation of most muzzle devices such as flash hiders, blast cans, and compensators threaded to 1/2x28 threads.
