Tips and Tricks For Installation
To install this dust cover door in your AR-15, make sure that the pieces are in the same orientation as in the pictures. The secondary picture shows how the rods and springs fit together. To install the dust cover door, prep the dust cover door by installing the small knurled rod into the left-hand side of the dust cover door with the smooth part oriented away from the dust cover door. The smooth end of the knurled rod should poke out of the dust cover door by about 1/4". Then, install the small compression spring in the bottom left part of the dust cover door so that it is resting against the knurled piece you just installed. Then, install the dust cover spring like how you would a normal dust cover spring and slide the main rod through the right side of the door and into place (the notched end in the main rod should be on the left-hand side of the rod). Install the assembly into your upper by inserting the left side of the dust door assembly into the left hole in your upper, compress the main rod, and pop the assembly into place while ensuring the dust cover spring applies appropriate tension on the upper receiver similar to how a normal dust cover assembly works. To remove the assembly, simply insert a small tool into the right side of the dust cover door / upper receiver hole and compress the main rod enough for the dust door to pop out of the upper.
If you have trouble installing the dust cover assembly into your upper, the left knurled rod may not be far enough into the dust cover to properly install it into your upper. If your dust cover has trouble staying attached to your upper, you may have pushed in the knurled rod too far or improperly installed the door.
